Dear Customer, This newsletter contains information about our Currently Running Promos and information about important changes in our services. Read more: Introduction of VAT system and changes to pricing On August 13th, 2010, We will introduce new VAT system on our site. This means that after that prices on our site exclude Finnish VAT 23%. VAT is added to the price only when the product / service is added to the shopping cart and proceeded to the checkout. Checking / calculating the total costs including VAT To further check the total price of services including VAT, you have to add service or services to your shopping cart and then proceed to the checkout page where you will see prices, VAT amount and total price including VAT. The order can be of course cancelled at this stage before the payment for checking the total price including VAT. Another option is to multiple the service price by 1.23, which will give price including VAT 23% as a result. VAT receipts New VAT system also allows that VAT rate and VAT amount is automatically printed on the receipt, so corporate customers will automatically get valid receipt for tax purposes where they can reduce the VAT amount in their accounting. Thus, a separate receipt for tax purposes no longer need to request from us. Order services without paying the VAT We also offer the opportunity to order services from us without paying the VAT amount to us if you are entitled to it (eg the EU-area company, which is located in a country other than Finland and has a valid VAT number (VAT ID) is entitled to order the services without paying the VAT amount to us). If you are eligible to pay services without VAT please contact us at: billing@xonet.eu and attach your Xonet.eu username (email address) and information about the company and VAT registration number to the email. Changes in the pricing In addition to the new VAT system introduction, we will also make small increase to our service prices, mainly due to the reasons listed below. However, the increases are not going to be significant, exampl lowest domains prices will be around 10 € / year level including VAT 23% when at the moment most advantageous prices for the domain names is 9.49 € / year. With other services, the percentage increase in the price is even lower, only a few percent, and with part of our services the price will remain at the same level as before. Despite these changes we will continue to be the cheapest / most advantageous domain registrant and hosting services provider in Finland with our aggressive pricing. Now is a good opportunity to renew your current services and order some new services with the old pricing before the price increase on Friday! The main causes of the price changes are:
On June 27th, 2010, Thawte upgraded SSL123, Web Server and Wild Card Certificates to the 2048-bit Thawte Primary ROOT CA. This root uses SHA-1 hashing algorithm and 2048-bit RSA keys. The upgrade of Thawte SGC SuperCert Certificates has been deferred to later this year. There is no action necessary on your part for your existing certificates. Your certificates issued from our current MD5, 1024-bit RSA keys will continue to operate correctly. This upgrade was done in order to ensure the highest level of security. This change is an industry wide initiative. Also, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has recommended transitioning over to 2048-bit keys. Browser vendors require the use of SHA-1 and 2048 keys. Microsoft has stipulated requirements that require that all new Root Certificates be 2048-bit and not use MD5 as the hashing algorithm. So what has changed? For any certificate you enroll, renew or reissue now onwards, you need to use a 2048-bit Certificate Signing Request. Also, along with the certificate issued you will also need to install the Thawte Intermediate CA certificate bundle (Intermediate CA and Cross Root CA) on your web hosting server. This will not involve any additional costs. The Thawte Intermediate CA certificate bundle, based on the type of certificate purchased, is available here - http://manage.xonet.eu/kb/servlet/KBServlet/faq1099.html. For digital certificates purchased with us and web hosting with some other service provider, kindly make sure that the web server has the appropriate CA certificate installed. For sites hosted on our servers : cPanel Linux Hosting - Please refer to http://manage.xonet.eu/kb/servlet/KBServlet/faq1582.html for detailed instructions on installing the certificates. Other Linux and Windows Hosting - You can install the thawte Intermediate CA Certificate from within your own Control Panel. Please refer to http://manage.xonet.eu/kb/servlet/KBServlet/faq1163.html for detailed instructions. In case you have certificates issued post June 27, 2010 installed on the hosting server and are facing any kind of exceptions while resolving your websites on HTTPS, kindly install the Intermediate CA certificate bundle on your web server for the smooth functioning of your Digital Certificate. On the 11th of August, 2010, we will deprecate Live Chat Services from our system entirely. This essentially means that it would not be possible to access Live Chat packages through the Xonet.eu system post the 11th; however, all Live Chat packages will continue to function normally. Customers who still have active Live Chat Account from us will need to login at http://www.livehelpgenie.com/ using their existing credentials, in order to manage/bill for their Live Chat packages after 11th of August, 2010.
